Asthma is a chronic disease of the airways that makes breathing difficult. With asthma, there is inflammation of the air passages that results in a temporary narrowing of the airways that carry oxygen to the lungs. This results in asthma symptoms, including coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
Even though there are seemingly miraculous treatments for asthma symptoms, asthma is still a serious disease that affects millions of people worldwide.

There are three major features of asthma:
1. Airway obstruction. During normal breathing, the bands of muscle that surround the airways are relaxed, and air moves freely. But in people with asthma, allergy-causing substances, colds and respiratory viruses, and environmental triggers make the bands of muscle surrounding the airways tighten, and air cannot move freely. Less air causes a person to feel short of breath, and the air moving out through the tightened airways causes a whistling sound known as wheezing.

2. Inflammation. People with asthma have red and swollen bronchial tubes. This inflammation is thought to contribute greatly to the long-term damage that asthma can cause to the lungs. And, therefore, treating this inflammation is key to managing asthma in the long run.

3. Airway irritability. The airways of people with asthma are extremely sensitive. The airways tend to overreact and narrow due to even the slightest triggers such as pollen, animal dander, dust, or fumes.

Herbal products have the potential to provide relief from many chronic inflammatory conditions. Herbs can relieve inflammation because they contain antioxidant phytochemicals. Some antioxidant phytochemicals prevent the formation of free radicals.

Pulmo-Fast inhibits the contraction of tracheal smooth muscle that is stimulated by histamine and acetylcholine.

Our lungs are capable of incredible feats as they are vital body parts. The average adult can take in as much as 6 litres of air and breathe a total of 11,000 litres every day. Besides being able to inflate and deflate like balloons, the internal surface of the lungs can stretch up to 100 square meters when fully expanded. The lungs absorb oxygen from the air we breathe so that our body could make use of it. Without oxygen, we couldn’t possibly survive!

It’s quite unfortunate that our lungs are so easily abused. Smokers expose their lungs to tar and thousands of toxic chemicals with their bad habit. Even people who don’t smoke unknowingly inhale poisonous fumes, radioactive gases, and other polutants.

Smoking can damage the lungs and affect lung capacity, making it difficult to breathe. The lungs contain tiny air sacs called alveoli where oxygen is transferred from inhaled air to the blood. When these air sacs are damaged by smoking, the lungs and heart must work harder to take in oxygen, which can lead to shortness of breath. Pulmo-Fast helps heal your lungs and increases lung capacity after smoking.

Pulmo-Fast Makes Quitting Smoking Easier

If you want to stop smoking, Pulmo-Fast contains three herbs that can help you. Herbs can be a great additions to a stop smoking program. These herbs decrease withdrawal symptoms, ease stress and anxiety, reduce cravings, and help detoxify the lungs and body.

Lobelia, also know as Indian tobacco, is shown to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with quitting smoking. Lobelia has this effect is because it contains an alkaloid called lobeline which binds to the same receptor sites in the brain as nicotine. Lobeline produces similar effects in the body as nicotine, without causing the damage that nicotine causes. It is also not addictive or habit-forming.
Another beneficial alkaloid in Lobelia is isolobelaine, which has relaxing effects on the central and autonomic nervous systems. It helps to ease tension and calm the nerves, aiding those who are going through withdrawal symptoms.

Mullein soothes inflammation and irritation in the lungs. It is often used in the treatment of respiratory ailments such as asthma, bronchitis and whooping cough. Since mullein has a great affinity for the lungs, it is an excellent herb to take when quitting smoking to aid in a quick recovery of the lungs.
Mullein tones the mucous membranes of the lungs and speeds healing of damaged tissue due to it’s ability to promote cell growth and repair.
Mullein is also an expectorant herb; it relieves congestion and brings up excess mucous, helping to purify the lungs.

Arjuna Bark Extract

Smoking, largely through increased oxidative stress, causes endothelial dysfunction which is an early key event in atherosclerosis. A study was done to determine whether terminalia arjuna would improve endothelial dysfunction in smokers. Smokers have impaired endothelium-dependent but normal endothelium-independent vasodilation as determined by brachial artery reactivity studies. Arjuna therapy for two weeks leads to significant regression of this endothelial abnormality amongst smokers.

Pulmo-Fast

Your respiratory system is constantly working. All day, every day, it is the vehicle for oxygen to enter your body. Unfortunately, it can also be an entry point for pollutants, irritants, dust, mould, fungus, harmful organisms, and other toxins. Unless you’re living in a bubble, the constant assault from impurities can take its toll.

Fortunately, whether you’re experiencing the negative effects of inhaling toxins, or simply want to ensure your lungs are always at peak performance, nature has provided a number of herbs and botanicals that provide deep nutrition for the respiratory system.

How are the herbs in Pulmo-Fast beneficial for the respiratory system?

Herbs that support lung health typically do so by offering one or more of the following benefits:

Acting as an expectorant — which helps break up and expel chest congestion.
Soothing irritated nasal passages and airways.
Relaxing the muscles near the upper respiratory system to quell a cough.
Calming the release of histamines.
Fighting the harmful organisms that can produce upper respiratory problems.
As a source of antioxidants, reducing oxidative damage and redness.

Composition of Pulmo-Fast

Astralagus Root
A clinical study of astragalus's preventing the recurrence of asthma in children found that Astragalus played a role in preventing the recurrence of asthma. The combination of astragalus and hormones showed better effects.

Chaparral
Chaparral is used by the Native Americans for lung detoxification and respiratory support. Chaparral contains powerful antioxidants that resist irritation and NDGA which is known to fight histamine response. Chaparral supports respiratory problems by encouraging an expectorant action to clear airways of mucus. Chaparral is also an herb that fights harmful organisms.

Boswellia Serratta

Boswellia can play a role in reducing leukotrienes, which causes bronchial muscles to contract. A study of the herb’s effect on bronchial asthma found that patients who took boswellia experienced decreased asthma symptoms and asthma indicators. This 1998 German study showed the herb could play an important role in treating bronchial asthma.

Lobelia
Lobelia contains an alkaloid known as lobeline, which thins mucus, breaks up congestion. Additionally, lobelia stimulates the adrenal glands to release epinephrine, in effect, this relaxes the airways and allows for easier breathing.
Lobeline is an alkaloid and the main component behind the Indian tobacco’s lung benefits. It promotes the expulsion of phlegm by loosening and thinning mucus found in the lungs and air passages. Lobeline opens up the airways since it is a bronchodilator.

Lobelia Inflata is especially useful for asthma, bronchitis, and other Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPDs). Ironically, Indian tobacco may be used to prevent tobacco withdrawal in people who want to quit smoking.

Elecampane
Elecampane has a relaxing effect on smooth tracheal muscles. There are two active compounds in elecampane root that provide the beneficial effect — inulin, which soothes bronchial passage, and alantolactone, an expectorant with antitussive action.
Elecampane can be used as a respiratory tonic and can also help to speed the recovery process for lingering lung infections.  It is specific for respiratory conditions with excessive bronchial secretions, such as bronchitis, and for irritation of the trachea and bronchi that results in persistent and irritable coughing.  Elecampane exerts a soothing expectorant action, but also acts as an astringent to reduce excess mucous.

Oregano
Oregano contains carvacrol and rosmarinic acid. Both compounds are natural decongestants and histamine reducers that have direct, positive benefits on the respiratory tract and nasal passage airflow.
Whenever dust, molds, pollen, and toxic gases get into your lungs, your body releases histamine to prevent them from doing any more damage. But as a result, your body develops either allergies or allergy-like symptoms. You start sneezing and coughing, produce more mucus than usual, develop nasal congestion, and have difficulty breathing. Oregano can help reduce the severity of these symptoms because it has rosmarinic acid – a natural antihistamine. The herb also contains thymol, terpenes, and carvacrol which can effectively eradicate fungi and different types of bacteria from your lungs.
In addition to its antihistamine, antibacterial, and fungicidal benefits, oregano is a natural decongestant. Research by the ENT Department of the Israel Institute of Technology discovered that oregano – along with other aromatic herbs – improved airflow along the nasal passages. Oregano can therefore assist in clearing out your lungs of any excess mucus.

Mullein
Mullein is herbal extract that helps strengthen the lungs. Mullein is used by herbal practitioners to clear excess mucus from the lungs, cleanse the bronchial tubes, and reduce inflammation that is present in the respiratory tract. Mullein is a useful remedy for dry, irritated lung conditions or a dry, raspy throat.  The leaf is an expectorant and a demulcent which encourages secretions in dry mucus membranes.
Mullein is a natural expectorant. It contains saponins which break down mucus in the lungs and airways and reduces nasal congestion. The demulcent effects of the plant are also noteworthy. It has soothing properties which effectively calm irritated lungs and airways caused by exposure to air impurities.

Arjuna Bark Extract

Arjuna improves heart function and increases circulation throughout the body and lungs. The increased circulation delivers more oxygen throughout the body.
